Creative Arts Productions is a non-profit agency, offering a high-quality theater workshop for area children finishing grades 3-12. For 40 years, Creative Arts Productions has served students throughout Northwest Missouri. Our goal is to develop skills and appreciation for the performing arts through an educational, enjoyable, and exciting theatrical experience. This year CAP is conducting a workshop and performance of MTI’s Elf, Jr. All positions begin July 1 and end July 28. Your presence is also highly encouraged at the parent meeting in mid- to late- June. A background check is required. The review of applications will start immediately and will continue until all positions are filled.
Seeking:
Artistic Director
Work as part of the creative artistic and workshop team to help create positive musical theater educational experience for youth. Youth education, musical theater, and directing experience preferred.
Principal Responsibilities of Artistic Director
CAP seeks a Director for our annual summer children’s theater production and workshop. The Director is expected to direct and produce a high quality performance and meet the needs and interests of students finishing grades 3-12 by providing an educational and fun environment for children to develop their theater skills. The Director will lead a production team. The Director will oversee the production, supervise all logistics and operations related to the production, and work closely with all production staff and volunteers.
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires experience directing full-scale theater productions. Additional experience in theater programs for youth is desirable. The Director should have a positive and enthusiastic spirit, creative vision, flexibility to multi-task and solve problems, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong leadership skills, and effective organizational skills.
Also seeking:
Musical Director
Work as part of the creative artistic and workshop team to help create positive musical theater educational experience for youth. Teach songs and lyrics of the show while teaching correct vocal production and musicianship. Youth education, musical theater, and directing experience preferred.
Stage Manager
Work as part of the creative artistic and workshop team to help create positive musical theater educational experience for youth. Assist Director with workshop organization, staging and props. Organize crew for tech week and performances. Help organize load in and strike. Youth education, musical theater, and stage managementexperience preferred.
Choreographer
Work as part of the creative artistic and workshop team to help create positive musical theater educational experience for youth. Create and teach choreography for production to students Education, musical theater, and choreography experience preferred.
Educational Director
Work as part of the creative artistic and workshop team to help create positive musical theater educational experience for youth. Helpeducate children in the field of theater through games and organized activities. Educational and stage experience preferred. Demonstrated interest in working with young people and positive attitude are required. Must be flexible and willing to assist with other production duties as needed.
Costumer
Work with Director to design and/or create quality costumes for production. Qualified candidates will be skilled in solving construction challenges unique to the field of theater for young actors. Skills required to successfully fulfill the job requirements may include pattern making, stitching, tailoring, millinery, puppetry, quick changes, and special effects. Design opportunities may be available to qualified candidates, but would depend on schedule and experience. Applicant should have strong management skills and be self-motivated.
Accompanist
Work with the Musical Director to facilitate teaching music and potentially play the performances. Must be flexible and willing to assist with other production duties as needed.
